I had hoped to get at least 4 hours of life out of this battery but was amazed that it lasts just over 6 hours before the low battery warning comes on.
I have recharged it several times and run it on my HP DV6000 laptop and I am still getting the same 6 hours. My laptop came with a 6 cell battery when I bought it 2 years ago and I never got more than 2 hours out of it so I am impressed with this replacement. For a generic, it looks well made and came in a padded box with a small but interesting instruction manual that gives some good tips on how to get the most life out of your battery.
It does stick out from the bottom of the laptop as other reviewers have noted but it is not an issue for me at all.
This battery gets my full approval!!!

When I purchased my new HP Pavillion dv2000 laptop 2 years ago, I spent the money for the extended life battery. I only occasionally used it, in airports etc, but it was nice to have.
While it lasted.
2 years later, I had the battery assessed through the HP site, and found that it is shot. I have been unable to use it for more than 6 months, not really sure when I noticed it wasn’t lasting as long as advertised, but pretty sure that wasn’t long after I got the computer.
I’m replacing it, but not through HP, as they charge astronomical prices for it, but as I am considering selling the computer to upgrade, I feel it would only be right to have a functioning battery with it.
Very disappointed, and I will never spend the money on an HP extended life battery again.

This is a third party, 12 cell extended capacity battery. the list of laptops it works with appears to be correct.
Note: as a 12 cell battery, it is double the physical volume of a 6 cell and will jut out of the bottom of your computer.

It works. It fits. It seems of decent quality. I use it when i have multiple back to back classes in large lecture rooms- impossible to find a plug.
It’s a pretty good deal.

First laptop battery lasted 4 months. I paid to ship the bad battery back. Second battery lasted 3 months. Northparts said to ship it back. I paid another $11 dollars to ship it back. They then quit responding to me. After about 4 weeks and 6 e-mails I decided to see if I could buy a battery from them. They responded in 10 minutes. I asked them when they were going to send me the replacement battery. They said they did not support Amazon orders anymore. I called Amazon and they could not help. Beware of Northparts

DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT! I purchased this battery for my husband’s HP laptop and the first thing we noticed before we turned on the computer is that the battery didn’t exactly fit quite right. We carefully tried following the instructions and charged it completely, but when we unplugged the power from the laptop, the computer would constantly short out and turn off. We couldn’t even get the computer to even stay on any length of time. Since I also have an HP laptop, I then tried `training’ the battery on my laptop per the very poorly written instructions… Immediately, once we put the battery in my computer, something shorted out and caused me to lose the ability to load my local profile permanently, essentially making it so that I now have to do a complete system restore (losing all my data)! Thankfully, I had backed up most everything a few months ago.
This is not a genuine HP product… It appears that it was made somewhere in China. The instructions are a joke and hardly readable due to someone’s very poor grasp of the English language. If you purchase this, not only would you be buying a poorly made product, but you are taking a chance on ruining your computer!!!!!!!
